As you know, Teen Wolf has many different outfits throughout the movie. There are three distinct looks that would all work great for Halloween costume ideas. You could go with the letterman jacket look, the basketball uniform look, or the dressed up for the big dance look. All three of these looks share two common characteristics - the face and the hands. So let's start with those. Without a doubt, the most critical part of your outfit is going to be your head. If your head doesn't look like Teen Wolf's head, your costume will suck.
This is what Teen Wolf's head is supposed to look like.
Here is a better shot where you can see his fangs.
If you want to try to make your own Teen Wolf costume to look like this one this is what you'll need to do.
Order a brown wig from . Make sure to get one long enough where you can cut off the extra hair in the back and use it for your facial hair.
Either get a foam wolf mask or some type of mask that will resemble a werewolf. If you can't find a wolf mask you like you can use a mask from the TV show Beauty and the Beast (not the cartoon) and that will work.
You will want to apply the mask to your face using spirit gum, starting with the nose and pressing down and outward.
Once your wig is in place you take some of the excess hair and glue it to your mask to tie the mask and wig in together seemlessly. You can use the remaining hair to add your facial hair and your neck hair.
You can get a pair of werewolf teeth at most Halloween stores. Be sure to get teeth with medium sized fangs and not great big long fangs. You can see from the picture above that Teen Wolf has medium sized fangs.
Use makeup to blend your skin around your eyes and your mouth seemlessly with your mask.
Now that we have covered the Teen Wolf head, let's move on to the Teen Wolf body. This is where you have to decide if you want to be the basketball player, the student, or the dancer.
If you want to be the Teen Wolf going to the dance any solid white suit or solid gray suit will work. You can buy a pair of wolf arms at most Halloween stores and you'll be good to go.
If you want to be the Teen Wolf high school kid all you'll need to do is find an old letterman jacket. You can find them on ebay as well. Simply sew on a big B patch or cover up the existing logo with a giant B. Cover up what's on the back, or sew or glue on HOWARD 42 on the back.
Be sure to where 80s style blue jeans which are tight on the bottom (no modern, loose fitting jeans). Any kind of old tennis shoes will work.
If you plan on going as Teen Wolf the basketball player, it will involve a little more work.
You will need to order a Teen Wolf jersey tshirt.
You can find them at or in lots of online stores. You'll want to cut the sleeves out of it to make it look like a jersey. Alternatively, you can take a yellow jersey and sew, glue, or draw BEAVERS 42 on the front and HOWARD 42 on the back. You will need to find yellow basketball shorts that match as closely as possible. You will also need a yellow headband that matches.
UPDATE 09 / 14 / 2009: Complete Teen Wolf Uniforms are now for sale on Ebay for only $54.95 This is what I've been waiting for forever! They are just like the ones worn in the movie and are perfect for any Teen Wolf outfit! I bought one as soon as I saw them for sale! This is what they look like.
The Teen Wolf uniforms are so perfect. Just think, they don't have to be for Halloween only. You could wear them during real pickup games!
Finding appropriate fur will be the biggest hurdle of this costume, other than the head. If you can afford it, I suggest buying a Wolfman Costume and using the parts of it you can use, and use excess hair to tie it all in together. You can pickup the furry Wolfman costume at any Halloween store for around $50 or less.
You can use the fur from the Wolfman costume's head to go over your legs. Make sure you wear basketball socks and pull them up high so you will be able to get by with less fur on your legs.
If you can find some socks with the yellow stripes like the one above that would be great.
Any old tennis shoes or basketball shoes will work, but for you really rich guys out there with money to burn you should buy these Nikes which actually have fur on them. They are actually referred to as Teen Wolf shoes!
